Does Revelation 6:8 point to the source of global pandemics?

In the symbolic prophecy of Revelation 6:8, Death and Hades are pictured
as riding on the pale, greenish grey fourth horse of the Apocalypse.
The pale color of this fourth horse indicates the color of a person in
sickness, and is symbolic of pestilence in general.
The latter half of this verse says that authority is given unto Death
and Hades to kill one fourth of humanity "with sword, and with hunger,
and with death, and with the beasts of the earth" (Rev. 6:8b, KJV).
Rev. 6:8b seems to be referring to the well-known corollary which exists
between war and famine. It also seems to be referring to a possible
corollary existing between "death" and "the beasts of the earth." In
this verse, the word "death" can also be translated as "fatal
illnesses," or "pestilences" (see the Bauer-Arndt-Gingrich Greek
Lexicon, p. 351). Many translations use these alternatives.
"to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild
beasts of the earth" (ESV, NAS, NAU, NRS, RSV).
"to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague and through wild beasts"
(NAB, NIB, NIV, NJB).
The corollary which exists between pestilences and human contact with
wild animals is well known, and this deadly human-animal contact may be
what Rev. 6:8b is referring to. For example, the Black Death was spread
by fleas with the help of animals like the black rat. Likewise, AIDS is
thought to be of primate origin. And we are now being told that Avian
influenza, or "bird flu," is spread by wild fowl contact with domestic
stocks. Even the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918, which was one of the
most deadly in history, is now thought to have been a "severe and deadly
strain of avian influenza."
The world's population stands at 6,471,434,963. If one fourth of this
number were to die from war, famine, and fatal illnesses, it would put
the number of fatalities at 1,617,858,740.
To put this figure into some kind of perspective, the Black Death of the
mid 14th century claimed an estimated 20 million. Likewise, the Spanish
Flu Pandemic of 1918 took an estimated 25 to 50 million worldwide. An
estimated 56 million died in World War II. So a collective sum of
something like 126,000,000 perished because of these three events, which
is only eight hundredths of 1,617,858,740.
If this understanding of Rev. 6:8b is correct, the world is about to
experience unprecedented global pandemics. Whether these pandemics will
be natural, accidental, or intentional, God only knows. I suspect that
some of these emerging diseases will occur naturally or accidentally. I
believe that others are being made by design for the express purpose of
depopulating the earth.
